The Mi- 24 is an attack helicopter of Soviet origin developed by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant in the late 1960s in order to provide Soviet forces similar capability as the US AH-1 Cobra. The Mi-24 is unique in being an attack helicopter with a sizeable troop compartment. As a combination gunship and troop transport, the Hind combat helicopter has no direct NATO counterpart.

The Mi-24 was derived from the successful Mi-8 transport helicopter. It features a distinctive tandem cockpit with the gunner in the front and the pilot at the rear. Mil Mi-24 is a twin-engined combat helicopter intended for close support of ground forces, destruction of armored targets and transportation of persons or cargo. A characteristic feature of the Mi-24 is a load cabin connected with the flight-deck, which is 2.83 m long, 1.46 m wide and 1.2 m high. It is capable of accommodating up to armed 8 troops; they can fire from their small arms fixed in mountings on side windows which can be opened.

Most Mi-24 feature a 12.7mm Yak-B minigun in a chin turret while some have a very powerful two barrel 30mm GSh-30K autocannon straddled along the right side of the cockpit. The inner pylons are used to carry unguided rockets such as the 57mm S-5 and 80mm S-8, gun pods such as the UPK-23 and a variety of free fall bombs. The outer pylons are fitted with guided anti-tank missiles such as the AT-2 missiles on early models and AT-6 and AT-9 on later models. The Mi-24 was the first helicopter to enter service with the Russian Air Force as an assault transport and gunship. The first combat use of the Mi-24 was with the Ethiopian forces during the Ogaden War against Somalia. The helicopters were instrumental in the combined air and ground assault that allowed the Ethiopians to retake the Ogaden by the beginning of 1978.

Even though the Mi-24 is a very heavy helicopter it is able to reach high speeds due to the enormous power provided by the two 2.200 hp Isotov engines and its streamlined design. At high speeds the stub wings provide up to a quarter of the required lift.

At FlatPyramid, we have created a 3D model of Hind Mi-24 heavy helicopter in various formats 3D Studio Max file (.Max) .c4D/.3ds/texture format with high resolution and accurate dimensions which is maximally close to the original.
