The Eiffel Tower 3D model is a metal tower in the center of Paris, its most recognizable architectural landmark. Named after chief designer Gustave Eiffel; Eiffel himself called it simply “the 300-meter tower” (tour de 300 mètres).

The tower, which later became a symbol of Paris, was built in 1889 and was originally conceived as a temporary structure, which served as the entrance arch of the Paris World Exhibition of 1889.

The Eiffel Tower is called the most visited paid landmark of the world and the most photographed. For example, in 2006, 6,719,200 people visited the tower, and throughout its history to December 31, 2007 — 236,445,812 people.

During the German occupation, the elevator drive was suddenly damaged just before Adolf Hitler’s arrival in 1940. Because of the war, the drive could not be restored. Visiting Paris, Hitler was unable to get to the top. However, a few hours after the liberation of Paris, the elevator drive started working again.

In August 1944, when the Allies were approaching Paris, Hitler ordered Colonel General Dietrich von Holtitz, the military commander of the Greater Paris region and the head of the garrison, to destroy the tower along with the rest of the city’s landmarks. But von Holtitz did not obey orders.
