A tooth is a bone formation, in a variety located in the mouth of most vertebrates (some fish have teeth in the throat). The teeth are designed to capture, hold and chew food, besides predators, they are also used for tearing it, and some animals (elephants, walruses, and others) have special teeth - tusks, whose function is protection and attack. Teeth derived from placoid fish scales. They are laid at the embryo in the form of an epithelial fold - “dental plate”. The simplest form of teeth is conical, characteristic of most fish, amphibians, and reptiles. In mammals, the teeth have a chewing function, so their shape is complicated and they are differentiated in shape (heterodontism) into incisors, canines, and molars (molars).
