The M4 Sherman, formally Medium Tank M4, was the primary tank used by the United States during
World War II. The M4A2 was the only diesel engined version of the Sherman tank to see service in large numbers, mainly serving with the USSR as Lend Lease equipment and with the US Marines, the British and the Free French. As a consequence of having a diesel engine, the M4A2 version's engine deck and back end is distinctly different from all other versions of the Sherman.
The Sherman M4A2- was a medium-sized tank, which was designed to perform various duties including, engaging the enemy’s tank and protect infants, etc. The Sherman tanks were famous for performing wide array of special duties. It was built in the early 1940s. Later on, these tanks were upgraded into armed personnel carriers.
The ford’s GAA V-8 engine was fitted with this jumbo machine. Moreover, after the end of the First World War, the Sherman was also supplied to other nations, but primarily to South America and the Middle East. The Sherman series wasn’t limited up to one or two models. It has produced several variants in which M4 A3 E2- Sherman jumbo was equipped with extra armor (including 1-inch front), vertically sided turret which was 3-4 mph slower built with 75mm gun, which was frequently re-armed by using the 76mm guns.
The Sherman A2 was powered by diesel general motor twin G-41 Engine. A 75mm cannon was equipped on its mount. Many countries like USSR, Britain, the US (mainly USMC), Poland and France used it their military services. Later on, it was also modified by 47-degree glacis with large driver’s hatches.
