The floor is protected against antipersonnel mines.
Built by Auverland, the Petit Véhicule Protégé (‘Small Protected vehicle’) is a light, general-purpose armoured 4-wheel drive vehicle used by the French Army, made by Panhard. It is also designated as Auverland A4 AVL. It is a 4×4 light armoured protected vehicle developed by the Panhard General Defense. It is used as an armoured troop carrier and liaison vehicle for contact forces. The PVP is modular, allowing extra seats to be added for more personnel, or to be used as a light truck. The armour, made of steel and aluminium, offers level 2 protections for the crew and the engine. The floor is protected against antipersonnel mines. The PVP weighs only 4.7 tons in configuration. He carries at least a crew of three men. It is flexible to increase, if necessary, the number of seats.
PVP is capable of carrying artillery, tank systems and special equipment for electronic warfare which can accommodate two to four crew members, depending on the mission. The vehicle is powered by an IVECO turbo diesel engine coupled to ZF automatic gearbox with four forward gears and one reverse gear. The engine delivers an output of 160hp. The PVP has excellent mobility due to its power to weight ratio of more than 34hp/t.
The Panhard Defense brand remains today, specializing in armored reconnaissance, tactical and liaison vehicles up to 12 tonnes, including amphibious models such as the LAV light armored vehicle.
