The 105 mm Howitzer Motor Carriage M7 was an American self-propped artillery vehicle produced during World War II. It was given the official service name 105 mm Self Propelled Gun, Priest by the British Army, due to the pulpit-like machine gun ring, and following on from the Bishop and the contemporary Deacon.

The 105 mm M7 Priest – Howitzer Motor Carriage was an American self-propelled artillery vehicle that was produced during World War II. The British Army named It as Priest because it has a pulpit-like machine gun ring.
The production of the first M7s was based on modified M3 Lee medium tank chassis.

From being based on the M3, to having more commonality with the M4 Sherman M7 went through a rapid shift. some M7s carried a radio set also. The M4 Sherman was the most widely used medium tank in World War II by the United States and Western Allies.
In the Battle of Meiktila M7 played a significant part. During the 1960s Israel acquired many M7 Priests and employed them in the Six-Day War, the War of Attrition and the Yom Kippur War. It was used during the Korean War also. Where Due to the limited gun elevation, it was able to shoot over the tall Korean mountains.
