The Sturminfanteriefeschutz 33B (StuIG 33B) was a German assult infantry gun of the WW2. The StuIG 33B was based upon a Panzer 3 chassis, with the turret removed and mounted with a 150 mm StuIG L/11 gun and an 7.92 mm MG34 machine-gun. The StuIG 33B was manned by a crew of five and powered by a Maybach HL120TRM engine providing a top speed of 20 kmh and a range of 110 km.


The Stulg 33B – Self propelled heavy Infantry Gun was German self-propelled heavy assault gun used during World War II. A new, fully enclosed, and heavily armoured boxy casemate superstructure was built on the chassis of the StulG.

Although sources have different opinions regarding the development history.

The first dozen of the StulG was delivered by the end of October 1942 and assigned to the Assault Gun Battalions fighting in Stalingard. The remaining rest dozen vehicles could not be delivered to Sturmgeschutz-Abteilungen, also fighting in Stalingard, after the Soviet army surrounded the German army on 21st November.

The vehicles were formed into Assault Infantry Gun Batterie/Demonstration Battalion XVII. The battalion to the 22nd Panzer Division as the Germans attempted to relieve the trapped 6th army. The division was virtually wiped out in the fighting and the battery was assigned to the 23rd Panzer Division where it became the Sturm Infanterie Geschutz Batterie/Panzer Regiment 201 for the rest of the war. The last strength report to mention them lists five remaining in September 1944.
