About Bumper WAC
Inaugurated on 20 June 1947, the Bumper WAC consisted of a V-2 rocket and a WAC Corporal sounding rocket. Incorporated into the Hermes Project, Bumper was used to investigate high speed separation of two stage rockets while reaching higher then ever reached altitudes at the time. Launched from Whites Sands and Cape Canaveral, Bumper was able to reach altitudes above 49km.
