Weapons used in the Middle Ages range from a very simple tool to a very sophisticated machinery and used by feudal armies from the medieval times. Medieval weapons were used by both Medieval Knights and their foot soldiers and archers support. There were basically two types of armed men during the medieval era that used different weapons according to the rank and status – the Knights and the foot soldiers, or men-at-arms, who included the Archers. All men in the Middle Age were expected to know how to fight and expected to be ready available to fight when called.

A weapon’s popularity depended on multiple factors, including its effectiveness, status and cost. But, in the midst of fighting, it was a weapon’s impact on the opponent that ultimately proved its value. One of the important weapons used by medieval knights is the broadsword. The broadsword was a very heavy weapon generally used to beat the opponent. It was mostly used to dent the opponent/’s armor.
The other high-status weapon was the lance, used in attacks by mounted men-at-arms with incredible power. But it was a one-shot weapon, often shattering on impact and was no use up close.
