Verticality fascinates, but it is offered as a means of expression only to the stars of architecture. For
the others, it remains obviously a subject of interest and architectural investigation, mixing innovation and daring.
It is a constant in the imagination of cities of the future and is the subject of many projects belonging to the
utopian or financial domain, such as vertical cities.
However, in the last 5 to 10 years, some projects, particularly those of urban farms as a response to
the challenge of biodiversity in urban areas, are clearly being objectified and rationalized, even
of financialization, and would seem close to a new stage of concretization.
It is a contextual object, born from the spirit of the place, from the natural and cultural environment, from the line of
mountains of Montserrat, of the influent organic presence of Gaudi. Its design consists of two
nesting cylinders. The one inside is a reinforced concrete structure pierced with random windows,
containing the trays free and totally diaphanous, and covered at the top of a transparent dome. The
outer cylinder is a glass skin that melts the facade and the roof, formed of glass slides, some clear
and other opaque, designed to control the sun. This superposition produces a vibration effect of
the facade. Located at the intersection of expressways, it emerges from a pit of water and is surrounded at its base
by a landscaped area that isolates it from the surrounding traffic. The tower lights up at night.
Energy consumption is optimized by temperature and human presence sensors that manage
window openings and distribution of heating or air conditioning.
