3D Model by Leah_Apanowicz

Five red blood cell 3d model with material and texture. Comes in several formats.

This collection of red blood cells or RBC models are duplicates of one single RBC model. This model was built in Cinema 4D and comes with a material for that format only, however this model also comes with a simple red texture which is included with all formats.

This model would work well for an animated medical presentation or illustration.

Available formats are:

Erythrocytes 3D model, also known as the red blood cells, are the blood cells of vertebrates (including humans) and some invertebrate hemolymph (sipunculidae, in which red blood cells swim in the coelom cavity, and some bivalves). They are saturated with oxygen in the lungs or in the gills and then spread it (oxygen) through the body of the animal.

Erythrocyte cytoplasm is rich in hemoglobin - a red pigment containing a divalent iron atom that is able to bind oxygen and gives the red blood cells a red color.

Human erythrocytes are very small elastic cells of a discoid biconcave shape with a diameter of 7 to 10 microns. Size and elasticity help them when moving through the capillaries, their shape provides a large surface area, which facilitates gas exchange. They lack the cell nucleus and most of the organelles, which increases the hemoglobin content. About 2.4 million new red blood cells form in the bone marrow every second. They circulate in the blood for about 100-120 days and then are absorbed by macrophages. Approximately a quarter of all cells in the human body are red blood cells. Woman have slightly more blood cell than men.

Interesting that scientists are now trying to synthesize blood cells for robot technology.

Red blood cells are highly specialized cells whose function is to transfer oxygen from the lungs to body tissues and transport carbon dioxide (CO2) in the opposite direction. In vertebrates, except mammals, erythrocytes have a nucleus, in mammalian erythrocytes the nucleus is absent.

The most specialized erythrocytes of mammals are the deprived nuclei and organelles in the mature state and having the shape of a biconcave disc, causing a high ratio of area to volume, which facilitates gas exchange. The characteristics of the cytoskeleton and cell membrane allow erythrocytes to undergo significant deformations and restore shape (human erythrocytes with a diameter of 8 μm pass through capillaries with a diameter of 2-3 μm).

Oxygen transport is provided by hemoglobin (Hb), which accounts for ≈98% of the mass of proteins of the erythrocyte cytoplasm (in the absence of other structural components). Hemoglobin is a tetramer in which each protein chain carries a hem - a complex of protoporphyrin IX with a 2-valent iron ion, oxygen is reversibly coordinated with the Fe2 + ion of hemoglobin, forming oxyhemoglobin HbO2:

Hb + O2 {\ displaystyle \ rightleftharpoons} \ rightleftharpoons HbO2
