L-13 was the first success of the K and L series of rockets Robert Goddard designed in the late 1930s. While his larger designs failed due to engine burn through, his redesigned L-13 returne to smaller and lighter weight designs. L-13 was launched 26 March 1937, reaching an altitude of 2.7km, the highest of any of Goddard's rockets.
