At the end of 2004, the Audi A4 was subjected to significant changes, and despite the fact that the same platform was used for the Volkswagen B6 (PL46) (longitudinal passenger car platform, size 4, generation 6), the car got the internal designation B7.
The car was distinguished by considerably revised control units, the geometry of the suspension, new engines, navigation systems and chassis electronics (the new advanced Bosch 8.0 ESP stability system).
