My Crazy Friend – The Irish 3D Modeler (Week 4)

My Crazy Friend – The Irish 3D Modeler (Week 4)

Last weekend was the craziest weekend ever.  On Saturday evening, I decided to stop by Joey’s – A popular hangout bar in my neighborhood. The idea was to meet up with a friend of mine Raymond, grab a few drinks, chat up some babes and then hit the club scene for the night.  After about an hour of waiting for my friend Raymond, he called saying that he and his girlfriend were having a big fight and he might not be able to make it. What a wimp! I thought to myself. Every time, we’ve made plans to hangout, he would foolishly inform his girlfriend who would then create a big scene to ruin any chance of him going out without her.

Just when I was contemplating what to do next, I overheard a conversation from a guy sitting next to me at the bar. He had a thick Irish accent and was saying to the two girls he was chatting up that he was a 3d model artist and had worked on such movies like Wolverine and Turbo.  So I jumped in and introduced myself to him saying that I too was a 3d artist. He smiled warmly and introduced me to the ladies. He said his name was Patrick O’Connor and he was from Ireland and was just visiting Los Angeles on a top secret and confidential business trip. He said it loud enough so that the two beauties could hear him and that picked their curiosity.  The next 10 minutes was spent with them asking about what his top secret trip was all about and how cool it must be to be a 3d modeler working on such block buster movies like Wolverine.

Patrick then decided that we should all do some shots of tequila as today was his birthday. And that is how it all started. Before I knew it, we were doing shots off the girl’s bosoms, hugging and making out with the two babes while doing more and more shots. They must have been about 20 – 30 people cheering us on each time we downed our glasses.

Frankly, I’m not sure how many shots I drank with Patrick the Irish dude and those two babes. Then, suddenly there were these two beefy guys trying to take away the two girls from us. We told them to burt off as they were with us…and that is when all hell broke loose. Before I knew what was happening Patrick had swung and hit the first guy on the chin, then smashed a bottle on the next guy’s head. He then turned to me and said “Lets get out of here before the cops show up.” We took off from the bar with the two girls giggling and running behind us. As we got to the parking lot, we could hear the sirens of the approaching cops’ vehicles. So we decided to abandon our cars and run through the side streets away from the bar. We must have run for about 1 mile before we both stopped to catch our breath. I noticed that we must have lost the babes somewhere along the way but that was the least of my worries as I was just too tired to even stand.

All the alcohol, adrenaline and excitement were not enough to keep me sane anymore. I just needed to sit down a bit to clear my head. But then Patrick said we should keep moving as it looked like the cops had caught up with the girls and might not be far behind. So we stepped into another bar to lay low while the heat blew off. At this bar, we ordered a couple of beers and before I knew it we where back doing some shots again but this time around with some two Californian Asian girls. I mean these girls looked Asian but where born and raised in Santa Monica.  They were really cool chicks and laughed as we recounted our escapade from earlier in the night.  They offered to give us a ride later to pick up our cars from the other bar and said that they did not mind going home with us.

Patrick was dazzling them with some cool Irish jokes although, I must confess that sometimes it was difficult for me to understand what he was saying with his thick Irish accent. However, the two Asian girls where graphic artists and loved the fact that we were both 3d model artist type guys and that felt really great for a change.

Then all hell broke loose again…three Asian gangsters worked into the bar dressed in all black with dragon tattoos or something all over their bodies. One of the girls whispered that they were part of the Japanese mafia based here in LA.  And that by the way, two of them were their ex-boyfriends.  Once more we found ourselves in another bar fight; this time around, I had to get involved as one of them threw a punch at me for no just cause.

Now, Patrick must have been in several bar fights in Ireland as he was pretty good at it and again he knock out one of the guys, kicked the other guy so hard that he fell over a table while I was involved in a grappling match with the other.  But then we noticed several Asian gang members coming in through the front door heading towards us. That is when we took off through the back door unto the street and again ran like hell back towards the previous bar.

As we were approaching the bar to pick up our cars, the two Asian girls pulled up next to us offering to give us a ride to our cars. We were so tired and glad that they were there. We hooped into their car and asked them what had happened when we left. They said that the police had arrived as we dashed out the back door and had arrested most of the Asian guys.

We arrived at the parking lot of the Joey’s bar and told the girls to drive behind us. Just as we were about to get into my car we heard someone yell “BITCH! Those are our guys!” It was the two girls from earlier in the night. The ones we lost while running from the cops earlier. One of them reached into the car and slapped one of the Asian chicks. Suddenly again there was a fight in the parking lot between the first two babes and the Asian girls.

This time around, we were trying to break them up when we saw a cop car approaching. So once again, Patrick and I took off.  About 10 minutes later while sitting on park bench we both reflected on the night’s event laughing at the madness of this particular night. Patrick pulled out a bottle of whisky from his jacket pocket and we drank some more. Then I must have blanked out.

When I woke up I was lying on the floor, it was mid morning on Sunday and I had no idea how long I had been passed out. At first, I was not sure what had happened and why I was on the floor. I checked for my wallet and car keys and luckily there were still in my pocket. Then, I remembered the previous night’s escapade. I looked around for Patrick but he was nowhere to be found. So I stumbled up and started to walk, trying to remember which way to get to my car.  Then, suddenly my cell phone began to ring. I fumbled in my pocket for my phone and raised it to my ear just as the ringing stopped. But it was too late. I had missed the call and as I looked at the strange number on my caller id I wondered…if it was from Patrick – my new 3d modeling buddy “the crazy Irish dude.”
