Christmas Wreath 3D Model Free

Christmas wreath – a typical decoration in houses during the Christmas time in the form of a wreath of fir branches with four candles, mounted vertically or mounted on a table. On the first of four Advent Sundays, the first candle is lit, the next week – the second, etc.

The Christmas wreath was introduced into Christmas traditions by the Hamburg Lutheran theologian Johann Hinrich Wijern, who brought up several children from the families of the poor. In Advent, the children constantly asked the teacher when Christmas would come. So that the children could count the days until Christmas, in 1839, Wyhern crafted a wreath from an old wooden wheel decorated with twenty-four small red and four large white candles. Each morning, in this wreath, one small candle was lit, to which a large candle was added on Sundays.

In the symbolism of the Christmas wreath, several meanings stand out. Initially, the addition of light in the wreath symbolized the increasing expectation of the birth of Christ, “light to the world.” Added to this are additional values due to the round shape, wreath symbolism, spruce green, the color of candles and decorative ribbons. A four-candle Christmas wreath is associated with the globe and the four cardinal points. The circle symbolizes the eternal life that the Resurrection grants, green is the color of life, and candles are the light that will light the world on Christmas.

Catholic Christmas wreaths are often decorated with three purple and one pink candle in accordance with the liturgical colors of Advent services. A pink candle is lit on the third Sunday of Advent called Gaudete (Rejoice!).
