Buildings serve many societal needs, most primarily as shelter, living space and keep one safe from the external factors.
Ever since the first cave paintings, buildings have also become objects or canvasses of much artistic expression.
Building types may range from huts to multimillion-dollar high rise apartment blocks able to house thousands of people. Some houses are even made up of wood, in places where there are frequent nature calamities. The most common building materials are bricks, concretes or a combination of either of these with stone.
Any building requires a certain amount of internal infrastructure to function, which includes elements like heating, cooling, power and telecommunications, water etc. Especially in commercial buildings, these can be extremely complicated systems taking up large amounts of space and constitute a big part of the regular maintenance required.
