The beginning of the 19th century brings an unprecedented wind of technical novelties into
many countries, especially in Great Britain. A Global force on all fronts, the nation dominated the West for the past two centuries. This
dominance in economic and military terms leads the nation to experiment with
first modern changes. In less than fifty years, the British nation
goes from an agrarian community to an industrial society. One of the first consequences of
this change is the rail "boom" experienced in the 1840s.
Kenneth Frampton emphasizes this in his Critical History of Modern Architecture.
By linking the major centers with the surrounding countryside, the railway facilitates the movement of the population outside the urban centers, which does not prevent it from
benefiting from the resources of the city. The development of the railway transforms
territory, allowing a completely new development, rather focused on urban sprawl.
Another discovery that accelerated the pace of construction in England, is reinforced concrete. As early as 1870, only ten years after its first use, this
new material is found everywhere in Europe and America. Many works are
undertaken with it in various countries, including France. In England, despite the many

become systematic. The brothers Perret, architect, and engineer working in Paris realize their
