High-tech (English high-tech) - a style in architecture and design that originated in the depths of late modernism in the 1970s and found wide application in the 1980s. High tech, according to the classification of Charles Jenks, refers to late modernism, that is, it is characterized by pragmatism, the idea of ​​an architect as an elite professional, providing service architecture, complex simplicity, sculptural form, hyperbole, manufacturability, structure and design as an ornament, anti-historicity , monumentality. Almost all architectural critics, following Jenks, call high-tech architects a new generation of modernists, because, despite the irony of the 1970s, they do not break with the traditions of European architecture, they do not argue with Vitruvius: their works are very functional, convenient, and they have their own beauty. But if hi-tech is the peak of modernism, even more broadly - to the idea of ​​"modernity" in architecture, then hi-tech can be considered a poetic end to an entire era.
Hi-tech style solutions have found their beginning precisely in urban architecture. A style that prefers minimalism and simplicity of forms, an extraordinary decision in the choice of materials quickly won the love of modern architects, quietly spreading in all spheres of culture and life.
