A lobby is a large entrance that is just inside the main entrance of a building. Since 1980s, people have started to think of a lobby more than just a corridor just to go from a room to the elevator. Although lobbies still have lifts but they are not confined to that.
Lobby can be used for small gatherings, resting, and sometimes it also serves as an entertainment centre for the guests.
Lobbies can be a part of many buildings like an office, a hotel or residential complexes. It is the first thing that someone sees upon entering any building. Most of the times, it is a luxurious space with reception and very small amount of furniture. Most of the furniture present in a lobby includes few sofas, few chairs and a small center table. Lobbies do not serve as a room; therefore they lack any bed or anything that is present in a bedroom.
Although in some residential complexes, lobbies can be used as a room, but mostly if there are too many guests. Homes’ lobbies are a lot different than that present in commercial buildings.
