This is a robot of a piston man character that is completely rigged for easy animation.
The rig is set up using linking, and does not use bones or skin.
Where possible, parts are instanced for easier editing.
There are 3 layers, one for the background base, one for the battery pack and a third for the character.
A simple animation is currently in place. The character moves forward then back, then the whole character spins 360 degrees. You can download the preview to see Quicktime output.
