Airbus A300 was the first aircraft built by Airbus, after the merger of various aircraft manufacturing firms in Europe. The developed machine was supposed to break the dominant position in the market of the company Boeing. At the same time, it was the first twin-engine wide-body aircraft in the world.
The construction of the first prototype Airbus A300B1 aircraft began in September 1969. The first flight took place on October 28, 1972, and at the end of June 1973 - the first flight of an Airbus A300B2 aircraft, whose fuselage was extended by 2.6 meters. Upon completion of flight tests, in which 4 cars participated, in mid-March 1974 it was certified France and Germany, and at the end of May of the same year - in the USA. At the same time, the mass production of new aircraft began.
The first aircraft was delivered in May 1974. Airbus A300B2-100 liners with General Electric CF6-50C engines initially appeared on the market.
