Boeing 737-800 is an expanded version of 737-700 and replacing the model of 737-400. This huge flying machine competes with Airbus A320. It was launched by Hapag-Lloyd in 1994 and made it into service from 1998. Boeing 737-800 burns 3200 L of fuel per hour. The flight deck got some new up-gradation with modern avionics as compared to earlier versions, but the passenger cabin looks the same as Boeing 777 including more curved surfaces.
Coming on the design, it was redesigned with a new thinner airfoil and greater chord. The wings spans were also increased by 16ft and area by 25%, which eventually increased the fuel capacity of the jet. The engine it carries is CFM56-7B, which is very fuel-efficient. In early 2017 the price of this plane was $48.3 million but later on, it has fallen down below to $47 million by mid-2018. Irish low-cost airline is the largest operator of Boeing 737-800 having 400 aircraft serving the routes of Europe, the Middle East, and North America. This aircraft also had filled the gap left by Boeing decisions to discontinue McDonnell Douglas MD-80 and MD-90.
