The Chevrolet Chevelle was a mid-sized automobile produced by Chevrolet in three generations for the 1964 through 1977 model years. Part of the overall Motors A-Body platform, the Chevelle was one among Chevrolet/’s most successful nameplates.
Body styles comprise of coupes, sedans, convertibles, and station wagons. Super Sport versions were created through the 1973 model year and Lagunas from 1973 through 1976.
The 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle falls under the second generation of production from 1968-1972. The 1968 Chevelle received an all-new distinctly sculpted body with tapered front fenders and rounded beltline.
The car adopted long-hood, short-deck profile with a high rear-quarter “kick-up”. While all 1967 Chevelle models had a 115 inch wheelbase, the 1968 coupes and convertibles now had a 112 inches wheelbase. The entry level Chevelle 300 was available as a pillared coupe and station wagon while the 300 Deluxe and Nomad Custom had a 2-door hardtop added to the lineup. The super sport became a series of its own.
