Aviation fuel trucks are generally described by their size or volume capacity. Large trucks typically have capacities ranging from 5,500 to 11,600 US gallons. Each of the trucks costs around $500,000, and has a 10,000-gallon fuel capacity with the latest technology in fuel quality control and operator safety features. These vehicles represent the state-of-art fuel delivery while filtration systems ensure the highest quality fuel going into the aircraft. The tanker trails a flexible hose with a stabilising drogue on the end and the receiving aircraft manoeuvers to insert a short probe into the receptacle in the drogue.
It includes a jet level sensor control system for automatic, high-level shut-off with precheck. The bottom loading adapter, capable of accepting a standard underwing nozzle, is installed on the drivers side. A gauge and shut-off valve shall be supplied immediately down stream of bottom load adapter for re-circulation and testing.
