The hotel was built on the site of the legendary hotel-casino Dunes, bought by Steve Vin and dismantled in 1993. Initially, the project was estimated at 1.6 billion dollars. The grand opening took place on October 15, 1998.
Eminent designer Rozher Thomas was involved in designing the interior and exterior of the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas. Construction of the building began in 1996 after the demolition of Dunnes. The opening ceremony alone cost the founders $ 88 million. The celebration was attended by stars of show business, VIPs, a concert program included performances of the Cirque du Soleil, cabaret and much more.
