Piazza affari 3D model.

Piazza degli Affari, commonly known as Piazza Affari, is one of the main squares of Milan, adjacent to Piazza Cordusio and not far from Piazza Duomo.

Symbol not only of the Milanese economy but also of Italian financial activities, the square is mainly known for the presence of the Milan stock exchange, the seat of the national financial market, established here on January 16th, 1808.

In Roman times, where today the Palazzo Mezzanotte (the current headquarters of the Milan Stock Exchange) is located and the adjacent Palazzo Ercole Turati (headquarters of the Milan Chamber of Commerce), there was a theater. It was built inside the city walls - near the present via Cordusio and Corso Magenta which at that time were important roads - during the reign of Emperor Augustus, in the first century BC. The building had a scene 20 meters high and an auditorium 95 meters in diameter and could accommodate between 7,000 and 9,000 spectators, at a time when Milan had about 25,000 inhabitants. The theater maintained its original function until the 4th or 5th century when the edicts of Theodosius and the progressive conquest of power by the Church began to hinder theatrical performances and amphitheater play. Like most of the city, it was destroyed in 1162 by Federico Barbarossa.

In the space where the square would later be opened, in the third century AD, the emperor Maximianus had his palace erected there and, next to it, the circus.
