Inspired by the novel 'Coraline', written by Neil Gaiman, I wanted to incorporate nature into a piece of furniture whilst maintaining its functionality. Referencing botanical artists such as Margaret Flockton allowed to interpret the intricacies of nature and translate them into the mechanical practises of a lamp. I enjoyed reviewing artwork from the Art Nouveau period that also explored nature and romanticism, collectively adding to the final piece.
