Diesel power plant 3D model (diesel generator set, diesel generator) is a stationary or mobile power plant equipped with one or several electric generators driven by a diesel internal combustion engine. There are also power plants driven by a gasoline engine - a gasoline-electric unit or a gasoline power station and gas piston power plants.
It should be noted that the terms diesel power station, diesel-electric unit and diesel generator are not synonymous with:
A diesel power station is a stationary or mobile unit on the basis of a diesel-electric unit, additionally comprising power distribution devices, automation devices, and a control panel.
As a rule, such power plants combine an alternator and an internal combustion engine, which are mounted on a steel frame, as well as an installation monitoring and control system. An internal combustion engine drives a synchronous or asynchronous electric generator. The motor and electric generator are connected either directly by a flange or through a damper coupling. In the first case, a two-bearing generator is used, that is, a generator having two support bearings, and in the second case - with one support bearing (single-bearing).
Diesel power plants differ in electrical output, type of current (alternating three-phase / single-phase, constant), output voltage, and current frequency (for example, 50, 60, 400 Hz).
Also, diesel power plants are divided according to the type of cooling of a diesel engine, air or liquid. Power plants with a diesel engine, liquid cooling - are units of high power and size.
Portable (household, portable) - power plants with a diesel engine air cooling capacity from 0.3 kW to 20 kW.
Stationary (industrial) - power plants with a diesel engine liquid cooling. As a rule, the output current is three-phase, with voltage from 400 / 230V to 10 kV. The unit capacity is from 8 kW (10 kVA) to 2000 kW (2400 kVA).
