3D Model by Panaristi

Originally modeled in cinema4D. Detailed enough for close-up renders. The zip-file contains bodypaint textures and standard materials.

The US Navy realized, around 1940, that the TBD had been overtaken by fighters and bombers from other nations, and that its replacement, the Grumman TBF Avenger, was in development, but was not yet in service when the States United entered the Second World War. By then, the wear produced by its use had reduced its number to something more than 100 aircraft. The Devastator had become a deadly trap for its crews: slow and unwieldy, with poor defensive light weapons in relation to the weapons of the time. Its speed of bombardment in chopped was of 322 km/h, which made him easy prey for the fighters and the antiaircraft artillery alike. The TheAerial torpedo could not even be released at speeds above 185 km/h.

The US Navy assigned popular names to its aircraft in late 1941, and the TBD became the Devastator.
