Girylifter experimental planes are founded on a new tecnology with potential military and civilian applications. The small tip jets, located at the end of the rotor blades allow the GyroLifter to alternate from gyrodyne (powered rotor system) to gyroplane (unpowered, free spinning rotor system - autorotation). This gives the GyroLifter VTOL capabilities (powered) and the economy and speed of autorotation when in flight.
