GDC’19: Rapid Level Creation for Unity Mobile

At GDC 2019Paul Ambrosiussen from SideFX showed a rapid and easy iteration workflow in Houdini that allows using sketches created in a paint application to generate 3D game levels in multiple styles for mobile games.

Using this workflow the SideFX Games Team created a mobile game in Unity called “Drawy McTank Face” with several biomes. Paul showed how quickly we can generate and tweak playable levels from a very simple doodle in Photoshop, create and modify assets, and simplify VFX workflow.
