V-Ray Next Update 2 released for 3DS Max

Chaos Group has announced the release of V-Ray Next update 2 for 3DS Max bringing V-Ray IPR enhancements and V-Ray GPU updates plus all new memory tracking reports and Debug Shading in IPR. Improvements to GPU and Cloud rendering include support for: Substance 2 maps, VRayCurvature texture,  VRayDistanceTex and VRayALSurfaceMtl shaders.

Both V-Ray and V-Ray GPU gain Debug Shading with various modes during IPR, a new Hash map based light cache and native rendering of Corona scatter instances.

V-Ray adds memory tracking support, baking elements support for opacity map when doing projection baking, and a new barycentric mode in the VRaySamplerInfoTex.

Other improvements include changes to the VFB which can now do test renders at a lower resolution, and there are keyboard shortcuts for mouse actions in IPR mode. 3DS Max’s OSL shading graph is now supported and there’s a new V-RayToonMtl.

Finally, VRayVolumeGrid gets support for V-Ray GPU render elements including  VRayNormals, VRaySamplerInfo, VRayZDepth, VRayVelocity, VRayGI, VRayDiffuseFilter, VRayShadows, VRayObjectID, VRayRenderID. It is also now possible to modulate or replace the Fire Opacity with texture in “Use Own Opacity” mode.
