Beds in antiquity arranged under the roof, roof. On four pillars, which were called plows, a roof was installed. In the plow inserted two bars. On the uneven bars installed bridge boards. Bars and bridge boards made up the frame, which was called the bedmaker. The machine was fastened with iron ties. In Soch installed large boards - dungeons, that is, the headboard in the head and legs. On the tops of the cox, four bars with poppies were installed; on these bars the sky was arranged, or a ceiling (ceiling). The sky was made of Kamka. Curtains descended from the tops of the bars; also from kamki with fringe. In the legs and heads of the bed curtains were called dungeons.

The beds were decorated with carvings, the fabrics of the sky and the wards were embroidered, decorated with tassels and lace. Supports, pads, and steps, which were called bedding pads, or attack pads, were substituted for the bed.

In the 19th century, with the development of industrialization and urbanization, some workers turned out to be cheaper and more affordable to become renters of beds, that is, rent a bed for several hours. This practice replenished the poor budget of the owners, but also carried a number of difficulties: deterioration of living conditions, the spread of infections and diseases. In some places, the bed was rented out to two different people at once.

The beds are dedicated to numerous works of literature, painting and sculpture.
