The Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) assault gun was Germany‘s most produced armoured fighting vehicle during World War II. It was built on the chassis of the proben Panzer III tank. Initially intended as a mobile, armoured light gun for infantry support, the StuG was continually modified and was widely employed as a tank destroyer.
SDKFZ 142 – StuG 3 – Ausf B was Germany’s most powerful fully tracked armored fighting tank during World War2, and the second-most produced German armored combat tank of any type after the Sd Kfz 251 half-track, It was built on the chassis of the proven Panzer tank, replacing the turret with an armored, fixed superstructure mounting a more powerful gun. Initially intended as a mobile assault gun for direct-fire support for infantry, the StuG tank was continually modified, and much like the later Jagdpanzer was employed as a tank destroyer. SDKfZ was invented in Germany in 1940.

The Finnish Army received 59 StuG Tank in 1943 and 1944.
