Q7 is equipped with a permanent four-wheel drive (quattro) with a distribution of torque between the front and rear axle in the ratio of 40:60. As an option, a third row of seats is offered for passengers whose height is less than 160 cm. In this case, the Q7 has seven seats (in the standard version). Access to the third row of seats is somewhat difficult, since the seats (bench seat) of the second row do not recline completely, but have folding backs. Optionally, in the second row, you can install two separate seats and a center console. In this case, the number of seats will be reduced to six or four (in the absence of the third row of seats).
Due to the lack of a downshift, a “parquet” concept of engines and transmissions, a self-supporting body with independent wheel suspension, the Q7 is not well suited for harsh off-road conditions. A very large luggage compartment, which has a poor layout, also reduces the practicality of the Q7.
It is about 30 cm longer than its European competitors, including related models of the Volkswagen and Porsche brands.
Optional equipment
The list of optional equipment Q7 includes a system for maintaining a distance of adaptive cruise control (ACC), an adaptive air suspension, referred to as "adaptive air suspension", a dynamic corner lighting system and a side assist, which, when changing lanes, warns the driver about the presence of cars in "Dead zone" review.
Another system available to the order is a parking assistant, which is complemented by a rear-view camera. Parktronic sensors are standard. In addition, the Q7 is one of the first cars that (from the 34th week of 2006) can be equipped with a car phone with Bluetooth interface and SIM Access Profile profile instead of the usual speakerphone system with Bluetooth interface. Carbon-ceramic brakes are also available for the Q7 V12 TDI.
Awards
On November 10, 2005, the Q7 was awarded the Golden Steering Wheel Award in the SUV class. In 2006, when the readers of the magazine Auto, Motor und Sport chose the car of the year, the Audi Q7 ranked second in its class.
