FAUN SLT all-wheel-drive tractor units are off-road freight vehicles designed for towing heavy truck semi-trailers connected with a special hitch device - the SSU tractor unit saddle. At the same time, the SSU here is the only link between the towing vehicle and the trailer, therefore it has increased strength and endurance.
The tractor with a fifth wheel coupling is a vehicle equipped with all-wheel drive and a single sled tire on wide-profile tires, which allows to realize high engine power over 1000 horsepower, and to create high traction on wheels when transporting large-sized and heavy loads in the composition of truck trains and transport using drawbar drawbar and module trailers.
According to its characteristics, the FAUN refers to the road autonomous locomotive, i.e., to a trackless vehicle, on a pneumatic drive, used to move a non-self-propelled trailer train. By the nature of service, the FAUN SLT road locomotive is a mainline tractor, i.e. it is intended for traveling over intercontinental distances in a full mass of a road train of over 500 tons.
Due to its compactness and high maneuverability, the FAUN tractor is capable of shunting traction work of rolling stock within production, and in some cases, with departure to the stage, being a Prime Mover tractor consisting of a single tractor unit with over 1000 tons.
Shunting operation of the FAUN is performed on exhaust tracks (hoods), humps, semi-hills, inclined tracks and parks. On the exhaust tracks, semi-trailers and trailers move using the locomotive thrust, on the hills - under the action of gravity, on the half-hills - using the traction capabilities of the tractor and under the action of gravity. The built-in winches of the tractor-locomotive are used for shifting semi-trailers and trailers on loading and unloading and repair roads and tracks.
The tractor can be used as a ballast tractor. For this, the front and rear of the tractor has finger clutches (towbars) and towing traction coupling devices Rockinger RO58-1000 designed for 1000 tons. The truck tractor is designed to transport goods with the full mass of the train up to 295 tons, composed of elements of modular equipment. All-wheel drive transmission FAUN allows you to use these tractors for the transport of heavy loads in off-road conditions, allowing you to overcome difficult sections of roads on the way to hard-to-reach objects.
The FAUN heavy truck tractor works effectively as part of road trains with a total weight of up to 500 tons, on asphalt, dirt roads and any rough terrain. All components of the tractor are characterized by increased endurance and efficiency - the machine is specially optimized for working in harsh and extreme conditions.
