The PGM-11 was the first large ballistic missile produceed by the US to carry a live nulcear warhead. Deployed by the US Army to the Western European theater from 1958 to 1964, the PGM-11 set the foundation for the Redstone series of rockets which launched the first US satellite "Explorer I" and the first American in the Mercury-Redstone spacecraft. The PGM-11 had a operational range of up to 320km with a payload capacity of 6300lbs.
