This model was done in blender render so no plugins needed, it is ready to be rendered straight away.

A globe is a spherical model of Earth, which serves purpose similar to some map. A globe is the only accurate way to study the whole Earth because it mimics the true shape of the Earth and is able to accurately portray continent shapes and distance between landmasses. A terrestrial globe shows landmasses and water bodies. It might show nations and major cities and the network of latitude and longitude lines. Traditionally, globes were manufactured by gluing a printed paper map onto a sphere, often made from wood. Modern globes are often made from thermoplastic. Flat, plastic disks are printed with a distorted map of one of the Earth’s Hemispheres.
In a globe, the axis of the globe passes through two extreme points called Poles (the North Pole and the South Pole). The axis is shown in the form of a needle on the globe. In reality, the earth has no such axis. However, the Equator is the circle passing through the center of the earth. It is perpendicular to the axis and goes on to divide the earth into two Hemispheres, the Northern and the Southern. There are a number of more circles parallel to the equator. Such circles are known as the Parallels of Latitudes.
Prime Meridian
It is a circle which passes through the Greenwich known as the Prime Meridian. It is perpendicular to the equator, and parallel to the axis. Together, the Equator and the Prime Meridian divide the earth into four equal parts.
