Horse 3D models may vary a lot, sometimes it’s interesting to know more about the object of 3D modeling.

Horses (Latin Equus) are the only modern family of the horse squad of the non-sickle.

Systematics
Systematics of horses is controversial. According to the most common method of taxonomy, the genus of horses consists of seven species:

  • Wild horse
  • Home horse
  • Horse Przhevalsky
  • Kiang
  • Kulan
  • Wild ass
  • Domestic ass
  • Mountain Zebra
  • Desert Zebra
  • Burchell’s zebra

There are some divergent views on this classification. Osla and Kulana are sometimes isolated in the separate genus Asinus, arguing that these two species were separated from the rest in the Pliocene. The Przewalski horse and the domestic horse are usually considered to be two different species due to the different amount of chromosomes. Sometimes the first ones are still included in the domestic horse. According to Paleogenetics, Przheval’skii horses are feral descendants of the Botanian horses.

Kulans are divided into a number of subspecies, which some zoologists regard as independent species. Depending on the point of view, there are up to seven types of kulans. Some zoologists prefer to divide the plain zebras on the Bruxelles zebras and quagg. The three above-mentioned species of zebras are sometimes united into a common zebral subgenus, which, however, is conditional, since the relationship between these three species is not more closely related than with other species.

The evolution of the horses is well documented by the fossils, which testify to the fact that, for 50 million years, a small, dog-sized animal, a forest animal pro-palaeotory, with its fingers instead of hoofs, has become a large ungulous inhabitant of open spaces. The main species formation took place within the limits of North America, where from their existing natural bridge their penetration into Eurasia occurred when this was possible in the absence of the Bering Strait and before the formation of a powerful glacial shield.

The evolution of horses began in the Eocene, about 55 million years ago. At that time, there existed a gyroecortium, the ancestor of all the present horses, a small animal with a height of only 20 cm in shoulders, and the leaves and fruits that had plucked their small teeth. Giracotria did not resemble today’s horses at all. This animal had a curved back, a short neck and a muzzle, short paws and a long tail. It was a stocky fox-sized creature with four-legged limbs. The skull and volume of the brain were relatively small.
